Quincy Jones "My Journeys & Passions"

The legendary Quincy Jones made a stop in Dallas for the release of "My Journey & Passion". In the book you see original notes from the studio and him discuss various projects. Q is the sweetest and humblest man you will ever met. The crowd was small for the event but I highly doubt Q mind because the group consisted of devoted and loving fans and admires.

Confessions Of A Shopaholic Movie Trailer

I love this book series, so I was really excited when I heard it was being made into a movie. I wish it started in London like the book, but hey who am I to say. So what do you think. Also, I hope it does the book justices cause you know sometimes the movies is a far stretch from the book.

Trisha R. Thomas is the author of Nappily Ever After. The book is slated to be turned into a movie starring Halle Berry & to be released in 2011. I first read Nappily Ever After almost two years ago and I got hooked. There was a second book that I didn't know about maybe that's why I was confused when I read Nappily Married...LOL

Venus Johnston has only one goal to be engaged and married to her soon to be doctor boyfriend. When he brings home a puppy instead of the diamond ring she'd pointed out several weeks before, she's devastated. She kicks him out and discovers the truth about herself. The best part is when she goes into the salon and does a transformation!!!

Venus engaged in Would I lie to you, but no closer to the altar. Venus meets Jake Parson, ex-rap artist turned successful business man, and quickly falls into a steamy affair. An unplanned pregnancy, her mother's bout with cancer, and her fiance's mysterious disappearing acts opens Venus's eyes giving her the power to finally make the most important decision of her lifetime.

Blessed with a beautiful baby daughter and a husband who is a former rap star with his own multi million dollar clothing company, Venus has finally gotten what she's asked for. But life as a stay home wife and mother is hardly the end of the rainbow. In fact, she's ready to do anything to jump start the career she's put on the back burner for the last two years. Against her good sense and her husband's wishes, she applies for a high profile PR job to help save a struggling hospital manned by none other than her former boyfriend, Dr. Clint Fairchild, the very one who dumped her and married Kandi Treboe. This time competition between she and her old nemesis turns into a battle Venus is determined to win by any means necessary. With an unhappy hubby at home, a nanny who's becoming uncomfortably close with her husband and child, and a deviant at work sabotaging the hospital, Venus may have taken on much more than she can handle.

Hoping to get off the emotional rollercoaster their lives have become, Jake and Venus decide to move from Los Angeles to Atlanta for a fresh start. In their pretty southern digs their idyllic life immediately takes a detour when a late night phone call reaches them from the past. Faith, love, and forgiveness are at the heart of this new installment. Venus is in for the biggest fight of her life.

I am wondering since I skipped one of the book should I go back and read it even though I know how the series ends??? ALL the 3 books I read were are AWESOMELY great. I wonder why the second the book didn't have a "Nappily" in the title

Are you part of a book club? If so, what are ya'll reading?

The Little Black book

That Extra Half An Inch....

Victoria Beckham's book of fashion and style tips, titled “That Extra Half an Inch,” is heading for the U.S. and in VB's word that is so MARJYA!!! I love VB style. She is always put together and never looks flawless. You can tell she has no stylist. I’m keen to learn a thing or two from this style diva. The U.S. edition of the book is out now. It's divided into sections such as jeans, tops, dresses and accessories. However, I don’t know if she’ll substitute the English retailers she suggests with American brands. I know this book isn’t groundbreaking but for the fashion junkies out there this is another one to add to the collection… and we all need that extra half inch. I am headed to Barnes and Nobles as we speak to purchase....

Grab the Mic

Law 3
Grab the Mic

Speak your mind. Don't let people run over you. GRAB the mic and yell into it. Kimora speaks on one of the many lessons she learned from Karl Lagerfield. He told her "Speak LOUDLY, speak QUICKLY, and be CONCISE!!!! Nobody has time for-long-windedness."

Basically if you are meek you will get run over or worse ignored. What is the point of being hired for a position if you are going to sit in corner every meeting and not voice your opinion. Your a waste of a sit. Speaking out is a way of grabbing a piece of the action and declaring, "I deserve to be here". She speaks on even if your on comfortable and wondering why you are in that position is to fake it until you gain the knowledge to feel more comfortable. Furthermore, she say yes "it may be more controversial to speak your mind, but it better than staying mute". Also, the ability to speak up, speak out and stand your ground against powerful personalities is one of the most important skills any woman can have.

Take notes from males in your life. They can tell it how it is without worrying that its personal. Sure it's stressful and anxiety-inducing to enter into conflict, but its ways more stressful to be screwed over in silence and have to deal with the consequences for three months. It's like tearing off a band-aid: You'll be a lot happier if you grit your teeth and rip." Of course, the most important part of being a good communicator is knowing when to state your case-and when yo just shut up.

Reserving your SPACE

By taking up more room, you're reserving your own space and creating an awareness that you're there.

Claiming your space with Fabulousity
  1. Heels, heels, heels. My motto: Four inches, no less.
  2. Carry an extra-large bag in cherry, emerald, or orange-not beige, not camel and definitely no black.
  3. Wear dramatic coat that almost demands someones help you take it on and off.
  4. Laugh a lot. It makes everybody wonder if it's more fun to be at your party.
  5. Turn up the music in every room you enter.

Le Freak, 'Cest Chic!

Law 2
Le Freak, 'Cest Chic!

Le Freak, 'Cest Chic, starts of by saying why be AVERAGE. Why consume yourself in picking apart how you look, your hair, body type, your accent or bizzare family or anything else. Kimora says "THANK God you're not average". And I do. Cause when you are average you are you are being safe, staying within your comfort zone, and it is boring and the most important it is not FABULOUS!!!

She points out how the most incredible artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs have always had the most awkward and unconfortable beginnings. There is a saying she says and I say it every morning now

"I (tasha sanchelle) am a Gucci-sandal-wearing, paparazzi-attracting, multi-company owning grown woman" Cause in 5 years I will be expect I already rock the gucci shoes I just need the pap n the company!!!

Throughout the next couple of pages she explains how she felt awkward at home, comparing her life to the Cosby and how if she was a normal kid she would have a strawshort cake collection in her home. Then she also elaborates on how in middle school the girls would call her "chinky giraffe". The "chinky" part was because of her mom and the giraffe part was because she was tall.... side note* I hate mean girls who think they are the shit and from cliques and push people out of them if they don't your mold.

Then Ms. Kimora explains how her mom saw her pain so she enrolled her in modeling school. Kimora now doesn't recommend modeling school cause she feels "the majority of them are designed to take girls' money and give them false promises of modeling stardom." Her first gig as a model was a "freeze model", she made $250.00 just to sit and look into space!!!! Finally at the tender age of 13 she left to Paris. She didn't speak a lick of French. She explains on how she became the "fit model" for Karl Lagerfield" During the passages, she explains how the parisian loved her cause was "exotic". And how designers told her that all the time, but sometimes she did get "she not black enough or she not Asian" .

Kimora explains that women need to make the differenes their trademarks. Embrace them instead of burying them six feet under. Being different from the norm is a blessing not a curse.

Kimora's top five freak-chic tips
  1. Don't try to change yourself to fit a stifling status quo. Find people who are like you instead of trying hard and even harder to be with people that don't appericate your true beauty and talents.
  2. Never compare yourself to others. Don't wish, the grass is not always greener on the other side.
  3. Act like you are the product and the promoter. Embrace what makes you, you and don't let people water it down.
  4. When in doubt, move further away from the center. Exaggerate your difference and use them to stand out even more!
  5. If you really want to change your looks and are considering surgery, please wait until your out of your teens. Your body is still growing, and with age comes grace and more beauty.
She also mentions how you should dress like your going to bump into your worse enemy. And I told agree with that. Image you are at Target getting grocery and look pulled together and awesome and you run into her (your enemy) she is in sweats hair a mess and looking like she lost a fight with her dog.... She mad cause you look AWESOME... That will build anyone self esteem in 5 seconds...

Keep your life in the Fab lane. Law 3 tomorrow.

"If you're gonna buy caviar, make it beluga"

Okay, I was reading one of my fave blogs The Fashion Bomb and my thought from earlier where transcribed on her page... She did a Style File on Kimora Lee Simmons and her very own top ten too.

So, I told you I was reading her book and i am going to give you some notes from the book... But please go the book so you can get a real feel for the book.

Law 1
"If you're gonna buy caviar, make it beluga"

Grand Aspiration Theory

1. High aspiration breed frustration.
2. Frustration breeds motivation.
3. Motivation pushes you to action-whether you take tiny baby step or huge strides.
4. Actions breeds confidence; you start to feel in control.
5. Confidence is cumulative: Once you start acquiring it, you get more and more of it.
6. Soon enough, you prove to yourself that you're a star who can surmount any obstacle and achieve with your life. You're on a roll

Kimora states that "if a person never wishes for more rewards and better quality of life, she is being complacent."

I agree with Kimora. Why would you want to stay complacent... why not grown and spread your wings. Every dream deserves a try. The reason she believes in aspiration is because she doesn't really believe in "fairy godmothers, "lucky breaks" and "men on white horses". And to a certain degree neither do I. I remember Oprah said that "lucky + preparation = opportunity" and that is true but at the same time in the world we live in you have to make things happen yourself. Yes, people are willing to help you, but no one can help you better achieve your goals other than you cause you know them the best

Law 1 focus is letting you know that you have an inner Goddess that you need to let out. She describes how she lets Ming Lee pronounce what princess she is everyday regardless. Be who want but do it your best ability and be you.... She also discuss how frustration and fear are useful things that make her change things in her life.

Finally she ends the chapter with Kimora's guaranteed top five confidence tips
  1. Never say never. Banish words that are negative "can't" , "won't" and "don't". Negative thoughts will manifest if you believe them
  2. Fake it 'til you make it. Basically tell yourself that you are great even when there is a part of you doubting it.
  3. Trust there's a reason that you are there, not someone else. You were chosen for a reason so don't second guess yourself and speak up. They didn't pick you to a quiet mouse. Show them they value your opinion
  4. Believe other people's confidence in you, even when you don't believe it yourself. If they believe in you, why shouldn't you believe in yourself.
  5. Choose your company wisely. Confidence is contagious. Keep positive people around you, people that stay focus and on the right track are the best to be around instead of people who are breeding negativity
Finally she says " Shoot for the moon, and even if you fail, you'll be some where amongst the stars"

"Fabulosity: What It Is and How to Get It"

Okay, If you know me you know I have never really been a "babyphat" type of girl and probably never will be. On the other hand though I belief Kimora is doing great things and achieve to new heights, but that line of clothes is not for me. I was looking at her "High End" line that she recently shown and I am loving it.

Pieces from the KLS line. Its simple and there is no damn CAT!!!

In previous post I mentioned how I loved her show. Well, yesterday during a BN trip I decieded to hit up her book. And I give it rave reviews. I only got into second chapter and this women is powerful beyond measures. She makes you feel self assure and helps make the inner goddess in you shine.

There is a part in the beginning when she discuss staying positive and not letting negative flow cause it will defer you from the real you. And she says say things that will uplift you. In the book there is a line that states "I am a gucci sandal wearing, paparizzi attracting, multi company owning woman!" and I love that line and that is what I am saying to myself every morning

I will be purchasing this book and telling everyone women to get it. It really felt like we were having a heart to heart about my life in the first 28 pages....

I might go see how Goddess smells....
